About Me

My photo
Stefan Gevers
Stefan Gevers was born in Enschede, The Netherlands and currently lives and works in Melbourne. Formally trained in The Netherlands, Stefan Gevers work typifies the creative and design style of his original homeland with his approach to minimalism and subtraction. Stefan takes a contemporary approach in working with watercolour on paper but also works with acrylic on canvas and is known for his felt sculptures. His work is inspired by his many road trips through country Australia. His latest trip to The Flinders Ranges has resulted in a series of large scale watercolours in with the form and textures of the landscape are ultimately reduced to a few but exact colour planes, resulting in a graphically-stylised painting. He is an award-winning artist and the NAB Collection, State Library of Victoria and Queensland, Art Bank and numerous private collections have acquired his work. Stefan has an extensive history in exhibiting his work nationally and internationally.
